What inspired “A Wedding Song”?

This poem was written for a friend whose husband died after a few years of their marriage, and who got re-married a few years later.

What poetic techniques did you use in “A Wedding Song”?

There is the metaphor of the frozen river—how grief freezes us solid, but just as the frozen river at its base is still flowing, the griever’s life too is still flowing and will thaw enough to receive love again.
