David Kootnikoff

David Kootnikoff holds a PhD in English from the University of Alberta and is currently an instructor of English and creative writing at the University of Lethbridge with specializations in Canadian and Indigenous literatures. His research interests include “settler-colonial aesthetics” and decolonization within the Canadian context, particularly the space where Indigenous and settler literatures interact with issues like the politics of recognition, multiculturalism, reconciliation, and sovereignty. In the area of creative writing, David explores how politics and aesthetics can merge to disrupt or confirm apprehensions of reality. He is currently working on a novel about his family’s experiences as Freedomite Doukhobors.
